walking inside the concrete squares
I try really hard to space out my steps so that they coincide with the squares of poured cement on sidewalks. Depending on the size, it is usually two steps per square. So sometimes I have to take really big or really small steps to keep with the pattern. Maybe it started as a kid with the “Step on a crack and you’ll break your Momma’s back” thing.

i do this as well, most of the slabs are usually 2 steps, and i get pissed when it’s more than that and excited when it’s shorter. I also get angry when someone has a longer gait than I do and takes each slap 1 or 1.5 steps at a time.
I used to to the same thing, but now I don’t walk to school anymore.
yeah, i’ve had people tell me i look like an idiot when i stretch my legs out to make two steps on the longer ones.
Oh I do this too! It gets incredibly annoying, because I can’t stand odd numbers. Its always one or three for me…so often I look like I’m hopping from square to square, or have to take really tiny steps. If I take really huge steps, I’m worried I’ll fall and screw it up…and if I step on a crack and have to step on the crack with my other foot, with the crack in the same place on my other foot as it was on my first foot.
Even numbers, not odd, sorry.
I like odd numbers. But not five.
Yeah, that saying drove me crazy as a child..it started a lot of right-left neuroses.
I know how you feel – I do this, too. It stinks that my own sidewalk in front of my building is made up of all different sizes of concrete squares so I have to keep changing my pace.
I do this. It gets difficult if I miss a step and end up taking 3 tiny steps in a row.
I have become so good at not stepping on cracks that you can’t even tell I’m insane if you’re walking with me. It didn’t even originate with the “break your mother’s back” thing.
Yeah, i do this with all lines. If i’m running in the gym, I have to mess up my steps so i dont step on the lines. Walking on tiles is not very fun.
The worst is when you’ve miscalculated the number of steps you’ll need on a slab, and you can’t reach to the next one yet, so you have to add in a little half step/shuffle before the line of the next slab. It always feels awkward, so I can just imagine how I look.
i know how that is
I do this too, and I count my steps as well to make sure that they come out an even number.
B-Rad with two pelvic thrusts for the “l’s” in ur name???
