I can’t stand the sound of eating unless I’m also eating. My boyfriend slides the fork along his teeth as it’s exiting his mouth. He denies that he’s doing it, but I can HEAR IT. It drives me insane. When I’m done eating I have to leave the table so I don’t listen to it and drive myself into a meltdown. I have learned to eat very slowly to ensure I’m still eating when the other person has finished – especially in restourants.

Yes! I also can’t stand to hear somebody eating unless I eat too. They look so disgusting to me than, and the sound…is horrible.

I am still gritting my teeth and moaning in agony from reading your post and imagining it. When this happens to me, I am disturbed for up to 15 minutes, and squirm and try and make the feeling go away, it’s awful.

OH MAN my coworker used to come up behind me and scrape a fork on her teeth on purpose because she knew it destroyed me.

I hate the sound of my huband makes when his knife and fork repeatedly hit the plate while he is mashing his vegetables into his potatoes. He says that’s the only way he likes to eat his vegetables. Now my step-son is doing it too. Am I the one with the neurosis?
