adding digits
When I was a child I would add the digits of large numbers, then repeat with the sum until I was left with a single digit.

i do that too, but the goal is always to get to 5. or to something with a 9, which has become sort of exactly like 0 in my head. because 5 + 9 = 14, and then 1 + 4 = 5, so it’s like the 9 never existed! 3 + 9 = 12, 1 + 2 = 3; 4 + 9 = 13, 1 + 3 = 4, etc. it rules. god, i’m a nerd.
I still do this. Usually my goal is 10 or 1.. because 1+0=1.
As I have advanced mathematically, I use roots and powers.. and all kinds of mathematical tricks to get to where i was going, namely, to 1.
i do this but only from a license plate number.
I do this sometimes, the goal is 4.
I didn’t do this in childhood, but as an adult I do it all the time. It’s like an obsession.
