multiple bumps
I can’t stand multiple bumps close together. Corn on the cob, multiple pimples, popcorn ceilings… anything with multiple bumps. They seriously freak me out.

i forgot one more. anyone ever make “easy-mac”? after you microwave it, all the noodles cling together and poke straight up. its disgusting. i feel have to pop pimples and blackheads too, even though i cringe at the very thought.
OMG, everyone in my family thinks i am weird because i actually feel physically ill if i look at any of the things that were mentioned. i would rather not retype because the thought of it is repulsing. heres one more though, if there are pit-holes in concrete and a rock pokes out of it, just the thought of something coming out of one of the holes makes me want to throw up.
OMG this is exactly what I have, and yeah – same with patterns too! Actually, it’s any sort of vaguely cyclical shape, whether hollow or embossed. Agh. I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it, which is just Nature’s way of being evil, I think.
what about honeycombs? when i look at something that resembles honeycombs… with all of those circles close together.. or fish eggs or something… it really disturbs me.
Wow, I’ve always wondered if anyone else had this. Mine is a little like the honeycomb one too. I can be really grossed out by very small evenly spaced holes or even cracks in something. The first time I had Ethiopian food, the bread grossed me out bc it was pocked with lots of little air holes. I’ve often thought mine started when I had impetigo as a child (it’s a minor bacterial skin infection, sort of like cold sores).
Me. Too. Seriously. Take, for example, cheap paper towels. Get it slightly wet and stretch it a little. A thousand tiny holes gape in the fabric, creating exactly this sensation of something excruciatingly… organic and for whatever reason sickening. I also have explained it to myself the way you have, Lisa, that skin will have a “cauliflower” texture (warts, cold sores) or be in some other way perforated like this. Even remembering the imagery is having an effect on me. OMG.
yay! i’m not the only odd bumps/textures person out there! everyone thinks i’m a lunatic when i try to explain this, anything clustered together makes me feel nauseous, ants, striations of anything like tree bark, skin, cracked dirt. blech!
This is awesome! I thought it was just me. I can’t see any kind of bone stripped of it’s marrow – or marrow for that matter because once when I was little I touched a bone that had just come out of soup, it was bumpy and piping hot, and it traumatized me (ya think?). Now all little bumps make me nauseous. This extends to the bubbles of boiling water at the bottom of the pan, and also to tiny fish bones or fish skeletons, fish scales, and in general any food that has multiple bumps on it. Someone once told me that feeling nauseous when looking at boiling water is also a symptom of morning sickness.?
Oh my gosh, anything with a bunch of tiny holes in it seriously grosses me out. Like porous stuff, honeycombs, etc. EW. I feel a lot better finding this site and finding I’m not the only ones with these unusual fears.
totally!
For me it always feels like something from inside the body. I guess that’s because when you look at textbooks of biology/anatomy, you can see many organs or molecular things which are very highly ordered, like for example- the inside wall of the intestine is covered with closely packed things that looks like worms…
I get totally crazy from these things but what’s more sick of me is that once I see it, I have to touch it, then I have to wash my hand in the spot I touched it…
bubble wrap?
Whoa, I am not the only one! I have a serious thing about the pockets – especially things like pomegranates or garlic pods or insect egg sacs. The first time I remember it is picking pebbles that were packed into holes in the rubber bottoms of my shoes and it gave me goosebumps and chills.
Here is a good example (disturbing): http://www.snopes.com/photos/medical/breastrash.asp
Mine is a little different. I am fascinated by blackheads – the way the bump potrudes out of the skin. I go crazy if I can’t squeeze it. I was waiting in line at the DMV and I saw an old guy with this huge blackhead on his left cheekbone. I almost attacked him and squeezed it.
It also extends to any similar shaped object in a pocket. Like seeds on a sunflower. I have to remove it and see the empty pocket or hole.
Whoa! I have a version of this neurosis too. Have never seen it articulated in writing. And, I, too, think it started when I had the Chicken Pox (got it later than most kids)…
Holy crap–you’re officially the first person who has the exact same neurosis as I do. Mine extends some patterns as well. Ugh. I lost my train of thought just thinking about it. But everyone has thought I’m crazy for this for years. I’m pretty sure it comes from my bad case of Chicken Pox.
I’m the same way…clusters…*shudder*
My aversion to bumps knows no limits. I hate dishes with rounded uniform bumps along the rims. I hate candles with coffee beans embedded in the wax. I hate the candy that came on paper strips when I was a kid. I hate shoes with uniformly bumpy soles. I hate designer purses with studs on them. I hate the texture of Legos and the image of Dots candy in a dish. There are uniform bumps everywhere and I am compulsively drawn to notice them all. I sometimes try to touch the uniform nastiness of the texture, but need to wash my hands immediately after. I think it all stems from an episode of National Geographic that I saw as a child, featuring tribal peoples who cut their skin, inserted pebbles and then let the skin grow back to form a pattern of bumps on their back. Nightmarish!
I’m totally the opposite I love the texture of bumpy things just a wierd sorporific feeling when stroking them (not spots though, they have to be popped) same with boxes of buttons or beads just lifting handfulls and letting them flow through your fingers.
has anyone seen lotus boob? its haunted me for 3 or more years now……….. the thought of it makes me cringe. ….asymmetrical little holes, or sometimes even symmetrical ones, oval in shape…. that frightens and sickens me completely………. if there are holes in concrete, i run and never look back.
join in the neurosis of little holes with us! the lotus breast image is fake, by the way.

OMG..i’m so glad other people share this feeling!!!! right now, i have a slight patch of impetigo and im so HURT by it! Like, I can’t even look at it closely without feeling my heart get weird. Its such a horrible feeling! That and the way mold looks like, with little holes…or ant holes….gah!
Nice post! GA is also my biggest earning. However, it’s not a much.
