similar looking/feeling crack
If I step on a crack with one foot, I will tip toe way out of my way, jumping over cracks, until I find a similar looking/feeling crack to step on with the other foot.

thank you. i thought i was the only one. i usually just avoid stepping on cracks altogether and end up looking stupid because i’ll either take a really long stride or a few really short shuffle steps to avoid cracks.
Uh-oh – I thought this was normal.
Yeah that’s how I’ve done it for 23 years now. Each foot can have more than one crack owed to the other foot. The second foot must land on the crack in the same place on the foot as the first one did. So my left foot can owe my right foot one crack with the heel and one crack with the big toe while the right foot owes the left foot one crack right in the middle.
OH MY GOODNESS! i just submitted this exact neuroses!! and andy you are so very right about the one foot owing another foot more than one in a certain place..
I hate this! I HAVE to do it all of the time; it’s not just with my feet, either: cracking knuckles, switching lanes on the highway and hitting the reflectors, etc. I have to have everything evenly divided.
Also applies to my bad jaw-clenching habit (and regular chewing), and even when I build houses in The Sims. The entire house has to be perfectly symmetrical.
I do the exact same thing. Sometimes when I’m walking with someone talking and I accidentally step on a crack, I feel it burning through my show onto my foot as a reminder to dotehsame with the other
i always end up doing like a weird skipping motion trying to step on a crack in the same place on the other foot. it will bother me until i do, because like you said, i can feel it on the first foot. this drove me crazy in track with switching lanes and all the triangles and numbers on the track, but the worst was cross country because i would be running races and if i stepped on a root or a rock or something i would need to find another one. it was very bad for my stride.
OMG I thought I was the only one. I’ve never told anyone about this but I’m sure they’ve suspected something like this.
