precision pen alignment
I need to be certain that the pocket clip on my pens aligns with the label on the barrel of the pen. With Pilot Precise pens, the clip must align with the blank spot on the label.
A friend discovered this neurosis and would borrow pens, write one or two words, and re-cap the pen… then hold it up and twist the cap to throw it out of alignment before handing it back.

holy shit i do the exact same thing,
I do that too! It really bugs me when it’s not lined up right. After I use a pen to take notes, I spend the rest of class making sure it’s perfectly lined up.
I use those pens, and do that exact same thing.
I have this same damn habit. It can get really irritating when I miss important notes in lecture because I am concentrating on that perfect line up.
i do this, kind of. i use pilot precise pens too, except i align the cap with the ink gauge. we’re cool.
Never let your friends learn about your compulsions! Now I have friends that do this to my pens, sing a half-finished alphabet, tap things an odd number of times or shout out random numbers while I am walking so my step count gets off because they think it’s funny when I freak over being messed up. What they don’t realize is this is actually quite cruel and it will mess up my entire day. You should just tell him to keep the pen, although I’d probably still want to fix it, knowing it was messed up, so I don’t know if that would help.
I do the same thing! The pen text HAS to be lined up with the clip. No matter how hard I try, I can never get it perfectly straight. I even hold it up to one eye to see if it’s straight.
Yep… I do that.
me too.
And before I start in any exam every piece of equipment has to be perfecty lined up with the edges of the desk, including the test papers themselves- even spaces and all. The same goes for the end of the exam, otherwise I will completely and definitely fail.
I’ve always wondered whether those near to me in the alphabet (and therefore near to me in exams) have noticed.
