marley the dog, not bob
I refuse to read the book Marley and Me because I know that the author is eventually going to write about the dog’s death and I’ll cry. Even though I work in a veterinary office and deal with the death of pets on a regular basis, I refuse to read the book because I want to save myself the heartbreak.

I do that too, I have never watched ET or The Green Mile because people always go on about how sad they are! I want to spare myself the pain.
Green Mile isn’t that sad. I was bawling at E.T. but I was a kid. Movies that’ll make you weep: Death in Gaza, La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful), Crash, I Am Sam, Bang Bang You’re Dead, In America (one scene kills), Forrest Gump (when he sees the boy in Jennie’s house – don’t wanna spoil it so I won’t mention who the boy is). I like sad movies. It doesn’t depress me. One movie that is just so depressing: Blow. It’s not sad, you’re just in awe when you see the ending. It doesn’t cut you like a knife (like in sad movies), but it kind of engulfes/surrounds you slowly like being put in lukewarm water or tar.
By the way: I already knew the dog would die, but couldn’t you have put a spoiler-alert or something on this neurosis for the people who didn’t know?
