are you sure it’s on silent?
I’m completely paranoid about my phone going off in class so normally I leave it at home, but if I know that I’m going to need it or there’s a chance of needing it, I bring it. Before I even get in my car to drive to school, I have to make sure that my phone is on silent and that it’s turned off. Then I take the battery out of the phone and place it in small compartment in my bag and then put the body in a completely different pocket because I’m afraid that somehow they’ll join back together and turn on and ring. Part of this is because I’m embarrassed of my ring tone.

Okay, you made me laugh out loud. I’m not even going to ask why you don’t change the tone. I loved this post so much.
Yeah, everyone pretty much laughs when I do it. It’s more of a thing against being judged based on my ring tone, and I never really know what a good tone to have is, so I get kind of freaked out about it. Hah. XD
Haha, I liked that last part. I had this same fear for awhile of not knowing what songs are “in.” I just put mine on a generic ring tone most of the time, and say that I just don’t have the time to put in a ring tone.
I just always leave mine on silent or vibrate because of this. I’m terrified of being judged on a ringtone, so I just don’t ever use one.
I would love to know the ring tone you are so embarrassed about….no judging…just want to see if mine ranks with yours
I do the same thing except I dont take the battery out. Thats pretty funny that you do that. All I do is turn my phone to silent and then turn it off. I’m not embarrassed about my ring tone im just embarrassed about it going off in class. when that happens to someone everyone looks at them.
one of the perks of becoming a shift manager at my old college job was that you got to determine the music. i hated that part! i begged my employees to bring in their music most of the time.
now i have Modest Mouse’s “Float On” as my ring tone. Not only is it one of my favorite songs, but i find it makes people happy when it rings. Plus it starts off quiet so I can catch my phone before it’s an interruption!
Partly because of the ringtone? What a (anti?)climax to a nice story. Letting your ringtone go off in a situation where you just can’t because of courtesy (like in a classroom or at a wedding) would be my reason to shut it off. Once, I was at a funeral and I put my phone on ‘silent’ so any incoming calls would not be heard. So I’m in the clear, right? We get escorted to the room where the speeches are done. We all sit down and the mortician gets ready to do his speech. Everyone’s silent at this point and he’s on the podium looking down at the floor out of respect. Dead silence. You could hear a molecule of a pin drop. Suddenly I hear a familiar ringtone. Sounds familiar, but it can’t be mine. Half a second later my heart drops as the realization kicks in. A couple of hours earlier that morning: My parents call me to wake me up because I was afraid I would sleep through my highly annoying wakeup-tune. Thank God cause you know what? I didn’t even set it. Usually I get up a couple of hours later. And what happens a couple of hours later while I’m at the funeral? My phone tries to wake me up right before the speech and I struggle to hit the ‘confirm’-button. I wanted to die. I wanted to kick my great-grandfather out of the casket, drag the coffin to the buriel ground and somehow get in the coffin and figure out how to push the ‘down’-button at the same time. Oh technology, how I despise thee!
