anxious friendship
When I’m talking to a certain friend on the phone I get nervous that I’m not going to be able to think of anything to say and the conversation will go dead. The ensuing anxiety causes me to then blank out and not listen and generally screw up the whole conversation until it does in fact go dead. So now I keep a list of topics that my friend might like in a tagged database. Sometimes he calls me though and I’m not next to my computer and I have to bluff my way through the conversation until I can access my list.

Mind sharing the list? It might come in handy!
I do this all the time with my boyfriend!!
I never do this. I’m quite relaxed. Rich Cronin (LFO) was on the Howard Stern Show (jan 21) and said that while he was dating Jennifer Love Hewitt he would keep a notebook with him at all times with topics so the conversation wouldn’t go dead. After a while he realized he didn’t need to be that compelling (or “rich” – pun intended) with stories. He would just agree and “half-listen” to her bubbleheaded fluff.
Wow… and I thought I was the only one with this problem!
Good to know I’m not alone.
