I have friendly nicknames for everyone I know. It seems harmless, but I do it because I’m afraid that if I don’t give them nicknames, I’ll forget their names and call them by the wrong name and they’ll be mad. I also rotate these nicknames often, just so calling them by the wrong nickname won’t seem out of place. My best friend has had eleven so far.

well, if your friends think about it, they may catch on and be offended of you not calling them by their real name once in a while. They could get offended that you do not actually know their real names’ and not think of you as that close a friend. so nicknames are fine as long as you know the real one. same goes for girls and pet names.
I make funny secret nicknames for people like Farckle, Robot, Llama and Big Gay Baby. They don’t know their nicknames, and I get to have a little laugh. I got this from grandpa who always made nicknames for people, to the point that my grandmother forgot people’s real names and was constantly embarassed!
