If I am home alone and decide to take a shower, I get really scared that someone will break into my house and kill me when I’m naked and vulnerable. To keep this from happening, I sing different genres of songs in the shower (rap, showtunes, country). I do this in hopes that the killer will enjoy one of these types of music, and decide against killing me.

I have the same fear! I don’t sing, but I leave my bathroom door open, so that I can hear if someone breaks in (I have a tiny apartment, this probably isn’t the best strategy if you live in a big house!)

I have that same fear when im in the shower!! Its terrifying and i keep wiping the shower door clean of mist or whatever so i can peer into the bathroom!!

When I was younger, I used to have a fear that any dark room had creatures lurking under tables and in corners. If I had to walk into a room in the dark I used to sing because I believed it stopped them coming near me. I still do it sometimes.

Im laughing so hard right now. I used to do the same thing. I always hoped that they would enjoy my singing and see that I had something to live for that they would leave me alone.

I once mentioned i had this fear over 5 years ago….and its still true.
I used to hav the same fear but i didn’t sing songs or anything like that instead I just locked the bathroom door which when u think about it make more sense.
Yeah I just make sure all the doors and windows are locked and curtains closed. Make sure my cell is in the bathroom with me charging even if its still on full battery.
I have the same fear, but I get out of the shower, while it is still running. This way, anyone waiting for me to finish won’t know I am actually out of the shower. Then with a towel securely wrapped around myself, I take the stick from my loofah and quickly open the door ready to attack. Just in case, I have the element of surprise on my side.
I do this too, but most of the time i wait until someone I know is in the house with me. I don’t usually take showers when I am home alone, because I am scared I will not be able to escape with my life- or dignity.

I always make sure the deadbolt and the latch are shut before I get in the shower, but half-way through the shower I think, “Did I lock it?” and that’s when I start singing loudly….usually religious or happy songs so they will think that I’m very nice and don’t want to kill me…

I always want to sing, but try to refrain from doing so because if I do, I won’t be able to hear the killer coming in. I don’t want to be taken by surprise… I want time to grab my razor!
oh my god i do the same thing!! only its when i go down to the basement. im always afraid someone will be hiding so i sing whatever i can think of, hoping they might like it.

I check every door and leave the window open (for a quick escape) and then turn the tv up really loud so murderers think there’s more than 1 person home and noting that the odds are against them move on to the next apartment

I grew up in the country – very rural. If I was alone going from the storage room to the house for something, often-times I would get spooked (dark woods lurking there, and all) and I would pretend I knew Karate (chops, kicks and “hiyah!!”s) all the way to the porch light… then I would run to the door
You do realize that this doesn’t work, yeah? I doubt that a thief/killer (most likely a sociopath or psychopath) is going to care what genre of song you are singing, even if that is the predominant genre on their i-Pods or whatever, if they even listen to music in the first place? Sincerely for your sake I hope this is a joke. If it’s not a joke, please, save your breath.
