Even while I'm taking notes and set my pen down for a short period of time, it's different when I start again. Bothers me to no end. I have OCD and things need to be perfect and continuous. I'm doing all writing on my laptop next school year. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in exchange for neat handwriting sounds good to me. That handwriting stuck with me for years. Now, whenever I see something written by someone else that I like, I copy it - I basically "steal" individual letters from most of my friends!
