I’m the opposite. I REALLY can’t stand it in all caps. There are people I avoid talking to online because they write it in uppercase.

I use “lol” kind of carelessly, when it appears to be an appropriate response but whatever has been said isn’t actually funny, and “LOL” when I am genuinely laughing.

“LOL” or “lol” or anything sucks. And I am really upset with myself when I find myself using it… (One of my emotes on MSN is “lol” so I do it by accident sometimes.)

I point blank refuse to ‘lol’ – and I detest the seeming necessity to smatter your communications with it in most social networks; caps, no caps or whatever, it smacks of base insincerity. I mean seriously… WHY!?

Any text talk bothers me in caps… caps=loud, for me. I will capitalize the first letter at the beginning of a sentence though.

i just cannot stand the whole “text talk” business. it’s creeping into everything now and just so inappropriate…all that OMG, WTF, LMAO etc. i understand it’s faster on your cell phone but the rest of the time it just seems incredibly lazy.

I use “lol” casually simply because I feel that typing “You have just caused me to laugh out loud” is somewhat awkward. My friends often do make me laugh when we’re talking online, so why not express appreciation for it?

you could type something like “that was so funny!” instead of LOL. it’s to the point, more personal and a lot less junior high-ish. sorry, i just really hate text speak.
