acknowledge the hierarchy
When I play Solitaire, I have to place the aces in the boxes in a very specific order – spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs, from left to right. In my mind, spades are the most important suit, followed by hearts, etc. I get irrationally irritated when I see people playing Solitaire with their suits all willy-nilly.

I do this too, but my order is Spades, Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts.
I hate the hearts cards. I think they are the ugly, so they must be last.
One time, for about a week, I decided the red cards were “girls” and the blacks were “boys” and the order was S, D, H, C simply because the “boys” needed to protect the “girls” …
Oh geesh. I just read what I wrote. I am insane!
Oh my god, YES! Except I go Clubs, Diamonds, Spades, Hearts. Obviously you have to go Black/Red/Black/Red, but Clubs are my favorite suit and Hearts annoy me somehow, so the order developed into this. HA.
I’m the same way, except I just need them to be black/red/black/red. But I agree, I’ll see people playing and want to tell them, “Please move your suits so they form a pattern. Thank you.”
I agree with April, I do Spades, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds specifically because I need it to be black/red/black/red. This b/r/r/b nonsense is ridiculous.
Hahaha, I put them Clubs, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, I don’t know why I do it that way and I’ve done the boys and girls thing before. Oh dear.
I am exactly the same as britt – it MUST be black/red/black/red. Spades is the superior suit so goes first, followed by diamonds, clubs and then stupid hearts comes last
I have to do it Spades, Hearts, Clubs than Diamonds because when I was young I got a deck of cards and that’s the order they where in, in the box. And to make matter worse when I’m putting a deck away I have to sort them 1-K in the same suit order so the ace of spades is on the bottom.
The b/r/r/b is not nonsense — at least it wasn’t at the time.
On my Mac I downloaded a free copy of Solitaire and the stupid game won’t let me put the cards in proper order.
Sometimes I end up with Hearts Diamonds Clubs Spades.
Which ticks me off because the stupid Hearts NEED to be last- at all times.
Even when I am actually playing with a real deck of cards and not on the computer. My Hearts must go last. My order MUST be b/r/b/r and specifically S/D/C/H
My little brothers do the order all willy nilly and it just really gets under my skin. I feel like everyone should order their cards in the proper pattern.
oh my gosh yes. i didn’t know other people did this! for me it’s hearts/spades/diamonds/clubs. it drives me insane when games won’t let me do this.
Wow I order mine the exact same way as j. Glad to know I’m not the only one who does.
hearts diamonds spades clubs for me
clubs are ugly
and hearts are the best =D
spades are better than diamonds but it feels wrong if they’re in front of diamonds :/
I’m spades, hearts, clubs, diamonds, and I can’t look through these other comments because it’s driving me crazy that 2 red aces would be next to each other.
Also, I think the most intense neuroses come out during things like solitaire. I have so many quirks related to washing dishes, because it’s a totally mindless activity that I do on my own, without interaction from others. This gives me many minutes to plan if I’m going to do the forks first or the spoons, and more importantly, if the curly-ended forks will be first or the bamboo-likened ones.
Hahaha, I do this too. Hearts – Diamonds – Clubs – Spades. I’ve been doing this since a child. I guess I always see red as superior as black, and hearts seem, to me, the most prominent suit.
hearts, clubs, diamonds, spades. i have the same idea about spades being the best and hearts being the worst, and the r/b/r/b, but I always have to put the best last, like you worked for it or somethin.
spades, hearts, clubs, diamonds. spades are the iconic card suit, then for some reason in my mind hearts trump diamonds, and it HAS to go black-red-black-red, like the cards in one line during the game.
I just need it to be black/red/black/red. The suit means nothing to me.
