I think this is more of an instinct than a neuroses. I don’t think any species likes things in their blind spot, as they might be mean things.

‘Bout 2 wks ago I was walking on the sidewalk & realized that someone was behind me. It seemed like they were following me or something. It could have been a guy… I didn’t know. I slowed down so that they could pass me off… Turns out it was a lady… Felt kinda stupid in a way…. slowing down so that they could pass me. I don’t think that I was walking very fast so maybe that’s why. I tend to walk fast so it felt like I was walking pretty slowly..

Me too! It really scares me when someone walks behind me, especially if it’s for an extended period of time, even if it’s someone I know. The only difference is, if it’s a stranger I speed up and just get as far away from them as I possibly can without really thinking where I’m going. If I know them, then I slow down so I can walk beside or behind them.

Oh man, I know exactly how you feel. If it gets to the point where I’ve passed so many turns and they’re still behind me, I just freeze… awkwardly.

I don’t mind people walking behind me so much as I LOATHE people walking where I can’t see them… Or (higher power of choice) forbid, just STANDING where I can’t see them.
