don’t touch my $h1t
I work in an office with a packrat/hoarder boss and it drives me absolutely INSANE when I come to work Friday mornings to find that she has been sitting at my desk and ALL of my things are moved and in disarray! It then takes me at least 20 minutes of my morning to re-arrange all items on my desk back to where they should be in rank of frequency of use!

i put all of my stuff IN the desk drawers when i leave. except the computer and phone, of course! my reason is i like to start with a clean desk and fresh mind and then mess it up throughout the day. maybe that’s what you should do? can’t really tell the boss not to sit at your desk, but if your stuff is tucked away at least you’ll know where it is.
Spike,
That is a great idea. And in fact I do practice such a procedure for my more important/personal items. I am picky about what pen I use and do not like others to use my pen for fear of germs and that I may not get the pen back, so this pen is placed in the drawer and a decoy pen is left on the desk. This has worked nicely!
i do the same thing. my mom or sister will move something just a few inches and i have to sit down and adjust it until it’s in the original spot i had it. if they move it more then a few inches i have trouble finding things, even if my room appears neater.
There’s nothing wrong or INSANE or neurotic about your resenting someone messing up your stuff. Your boss invaded your territory, then took it over as her own. Your feelings are normal and valid.
