i’ll bag myself, thank you
When I’m at the grocery store unloading my cart I have to keep the like items together. Produce, frozen foods, toiletries etc. I don’t like it when they get mixed up and get especially annoyed if despite my keeping them separate, the bagger stuffs different categories of things in the same bag.

I will immediately rearrange bags if the bagger has put a non food item in with a food item. Why would anyone think it’s okay to pack drain cleaner with produce? Are they trying to poison us?
I never allow other people to do the bagging. Why anyone thiks it’s acceptable to put a fresh unfrozen chicken in with my cakes I don’t know, but that’s that one idiot did.
I put the cakes to one side and made everyone wait until they had been replaced. I wouldn’t have minded so much but when bagging was offered, I had declined!
I don’t think that’s neurotic – I think that’s self (and family) preservation!
I also like to arrange the shopping onto the conveyor myself so it’s in the right order.
That may be neurotic…..
I have the same problem. That’s why, when I remove my items from my cart, I arrange them on the checkout conveyor belt in groups. Bagging my groceries should be foolproof, but clerks still get it wrong.
we put all of the heavy items first on the conveyor and the squishy-breaky stuff last. works most of the time. our grocery has self-checkouts now so we mostly use them now. hubby likes the bags heavy so he get to do his own bagging! so much faster, too.
