When I open my refrigerator, I have to take out the food and place it on the counter, then catch the swinging door with my right hand before it hits the wall. I’ve only ever let it hit the wall four times since I was seven.

I do too, with my right foot.
I used to have to jump every time the refrigerator door closed. I couldn’t have my feet touching the ground. When my friends discovered this, they kept me sitting on the kitchen counter for 15 minutes by repeatedly opening and closing the fridge.
I do something similar, I take out the food and put it on the table but have to catch it before the fridge door hit’s my cooker! I can never just hold the door, it’s almost like I’m testing myself.
If your door swings on its own your refrigerator isn’t level. Unless you mean that you just throw it open and let it swing.
