similar looking/feeling crack
If I step on a crack with one foot, I will tip toe way out of my way, jumping over cracks, until I find a similar looking/feeling crack to step on with the other foot.

I try to step over the same number of cracks with each leg. I will change my route (slightly) to make the number come out right.
I try really hard to space out my steps so that they coincide with the squares of poured cement on sidewalks. Depending on the size, it is usually two steps per square. So sometimes I have to take really big or really small steps to keep with the pattern. Maybe it started as a kid with the “Step on a crack and you’ll break your Momma’s back” thing.
